The car chase began on Manchester Boulevard when police were forced to pursue a gray Saturn that fled from them. The chase continued onto the Interstate 110 freeway, ending at a Figueroa Street intersection when the fleeing vehicle collided with an SUV, forcing the driver of the Saturn to stop on a sidewalk.

The Definition of Negligence

Negligence is defined as “a failure to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances.” When someone acts negligently behind the wheel, whether by distracted driving or fleeing the police, that driver places everyone on the road in danger.

When an individual acts negligently and a person is injured due to those actions, the injured party has legal avenues for pursuing compensation for damages. Damages can include reimbursement for medical bills related to the injuries sustained during the accident. It can also include reimbursement for lost wages due to the inability to work following the accident. Finally, damages can also include compensation for pain and suffering due to the other driver’s negligence. When you are able to show that the other driver was the negligent party, they may be held liable.
