Should I accept the insurance money for an accident in San Diego?

Due to the likelihood your injury will be undervalued and under-compensated, it is important not to accept an insurance settlement, or to sign off on your claim, until a qualified personal injury attorney has reviewed the facts of your injury and a potential settlement. While a lawyer will generally be paid a percentage of any settlement or verdict, offers received after intervention by legal counsel are usually greater than settlements offered to claimants without legal counsel.

Should I give the insurance company a recorded statement?

The terms of most insurance policies require notification of your insurance agent following an accident. Your own insurance agent should receive an honest accounting of the facts of your accident, as soon as possible after an accident. Beyond providing notice and talking to your agent, however do not provide a recorded statement to any insurance company without first consulting an attorney.

How do I know what my personal injury case is worth in San Diego?

The value of an injury claim is highly dependent on the proven cause of injury and the physical, emotional and financial consequences to the individual or family that suffers loss. More serious injuries are cause for more serious damages. But damages in California are weighed against the fault of both parties. If injured, consult with an experienced injury attorney about the specific facts — and possible outcome — of your case.

When is the best time to contact an attorney if I am injured in a car accident?

While there are time limits to file legal action after a personal injury in California, the best time to seek knowledgeable legal advice is immediately after the accident. Evidence disappears or can be destroyed, and memories can fade quickly, after a traumatic accident. Personal injury attorneys understand the rules of preservation of evidence and proof of negligence, and can obtain fair compensation for you. Contact reputable legal counsel as soon as possible.
