DUI and Head-On Crashes

According to data from the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration, only about three percent of fatal accidents involve head-on collisions between vehicles. However, this type of crash is far more likely to result in serious injuries and even death. Statistics also reveal that 60 percent of wrong-way crashes are caused by impaired drivers.

Drinking and driving is a serious crime that results in thousands of deaths each year. When an individual makes the choice to drink and drive, that driver not only puts himself or herself at risk but also everyone else on the road. Because drinking and driving is against the law, it is considered a negligent action. This means that the victims of a drunk driver can use this negligent action to prove fault in civil court and seek compensation for their injuries. Compensation can include repayment for medical bills, payment for on-going or future treatment related to injuries sustained in the accident, loss of income and pain and suffering.
