Ms. Bastedo grew up in southeast Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy from Michigan State University in December of 2002. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in December of 2006, where she graduated cum laude. During law school, Ms. Bastedo received the American Jurisprudence Award of Excellence and the Witkin Award for the highest grades in Legal Writing II (persuasive writing), Wills, and Civil Rights Law. She was admitted to the California State Bar in July 2007 after passing the February bar exam. After law school, she received the Distinguished Achievement Award from Tom Homann Law Association in 2008 and participated in the Welsh Inn of Court in 2013.
Ms. Bastedo has focused much of her practice on civil rights and personal injury cases for plaintiffs including wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and business losses. In one of the largest cases in the history of San Diego and California known as the “Wildfire Cases” while working for another firm, her efforts contributed to the successful resolution of over $21 million dollars in settlements. Some of those successful results involved unique damages.
Ms. Bastedo currently handles wrongful death, civil rights, sexual assault, sexual abuse, harassment, discrimination and retaliation cases under the Fair Employment and Housing Act. With experience in both state and federal courts, she is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California. She is a member of the Lawyer’s Club, Tom Homann Law Association, and Consumer Attorney’s of San Diego.
